Beware of predatory journals/publishers
The gold (author pays) open-access model has led to the rise of many new publishers. Many of them are corrupt and taken advantage of authors by charging processing charges upon the acceptance of their scientific manuscripts. These journals or publishers usually send an invitation to publish your paper in their journals.
Jeffrey Beall, a librarian at Auraria Library, University of Colorado Denver, identifies these journals and publishers by using criteria to analyze the editor, publisher, and the integrity of journals/publishers. The complete list can be found here: http://scholarlyoa.com/2012/11/30/criteria-for-determining-predatory-open-access-publishers-2nd-edition/. He also manages blogs that list predatory journals and publishers. The link can be found here: http://scholarlyoa.com.
Before you publish your paper in an open access journal, you might want to check the Beall’s list first.
For further assistance to check the journal/publisher credibility, please do not hesitant to contact the Library staff, Wiwit or Vika.
