Telling your research story with Altmetric

In scholarly and scientific publishing, altmetrics are non-traditional metrics proposed as an alternative to more traditional citation impact, such as impact factor and h-index.

Altmetrics did not originally cover citation counts. It also covers other aspects of the impact of a work, such as how many data and knowledge bases refer to it, article views, downloads, or mentions in social media and news media. It is a new approach to determine popularity of research and shows impact of the research.

By tweeting, sharing, and linking your scientific research to online web tools and social media, you can open up new pathway to share your research. It provides evidence of public interest and shows that a relatively under cited paper is having a research impact too.
